The program, directed by Michael at the Loma Linda University Church of Seventh-Day Adventists on July 28, 2012, featured Camille Saint-Saens' Symphony No. 3 "Organ" with Dr. Kimo Smith on the church pipe organ, "Kol Nidrei" by Max Bruch with WAU alumna Shanti Seidel on solo cello, and the premier of "Symphony of Our Father", a full length symphonic work composed by Michael.
In true fashion of composers of old, Michael organized all aspects of the concert which would be premiering his composition, raising nearly $16,000 for the production. The concert was televised world-wide and received a 3 minute standing ovation from a packed house. "He shows such fine promise in pretty much any musical field to which he applies himself," said Preston Hawes, WAU Assistant Professor of Music and Michael's conducting coach, "he has a natural God-given ability to adapt very quickly to the demands of musical performance, whether as a pianist, oboist, conductor or composer. I predict a very bright future for him!"
Upon returning to WAU this fall, Michael will present a senior recital in completion of his performance degree, and hopes to attend graduate school in Film Scoring at either UCLA or NYU in the fall of 2013.
